Turnleaf

Last updated 2026-10-25

Turnleaf does not collect any data about you. Not your name, not your location, not your device identifiers, not how you play, not whether you play at all. There is no analytics software in the game, no advertising software, no account to create, and no server of ours that your information could reach. Apple's own App Privacy label for Turnleaf reads "Data Not Collected."

What we never collect

What is stored, and where

Your save is kept on your device: which flower beds are in bloom, which pages of the journal and which notes you have read, what is in the herbarium, the plot of Your Garden, and your settings. Nothing in it is sent to us. What follows is everything that can hold or show any part of it; each is Apple's own or your own doing, and the game plays the same without any of them.

iCloud, your save If you are signed in to iCloud, your save is also kept in your own iCloud (Apple's key-value storage, not a server of ours), so that an iPhone, an iPad and an Apple TV on the same account tend the same garden. The copies are joined so that nothing earned on either is lost. We never see it. Signed out of iCloud, the game plays on that device alone.
iCloud, a garden shared with friends ("Over the hedge") Only if you invite a friend from Settings, Garden, "Over the hedge". Then your garden's plot (which plants stand where, which are golden, where the Dawn Seed grows), its name and when it last changed are kept in your own private iCloud database (Apple's CloudKit) and shared, to look at and not to change, only with the friends you invite, through Apple's own sharing link. A friend needs Turnleaf and their own iCloud account to accept. Nothing else of your save travels this way, and nothing is ever public. The gardens of friends whose invitations you accept are kept on your device so that they can be drawn beside yours. You can take a friend off your garden from that same page, and "Let this garden go" removes a friend's garden from yours. We never see any of it.
Game Center Turnleaf reports progress toward Apple's Game Center achievements and nothing else. There are no leaderboards and no challenges. Signing in to Game Center is your choice; the game does not bring it up before three flower beds are in bloom, unless you open Achievements in Settings yourself.
Notifications Off in every new garden, and only on iPhone and iPad. The garden asks once, right after your first Dawn Seed is planted, and never again if you say no; the switch is in Settings, Atmosphere. A notification is made on your own device (the Dawn Seed's bloom, a turning season). Nothing is sent to your device from anywhere.
Home Screen widget and Apple TV Top Shelf On iPhone and iPad the widget draws a small picture of your garden and the day's lantern from a snapshot the game writes to storage shared only between Turnleaf and its own widget. It never leaves your device and no other app can read it. The Top Shelf on Apple TV reads the clock and nothing of yours.
Siri and Shortcuts The game's shortcuts (such as "How Is My Garden?") open a place in the game or answer from the save on your device. They send nothing anywhere.
Seed packets, cuttings and invitations A seed packet or a cutting that you choose to send is a short link, or a few spelled words, naming plants: three for a packet, one for a cutting. It holds nothing about you, and it is you who sends it, through Apple's share sheet and whichever app you choose. A garden's invitation is Apple's own iCloud sharing link, sent the same way.
Writing to us "Write to us" in Settings opens a new e-mail in your own mail app, with the game's version and your device's model at its foot. The game sends nothing: you see the e-mail and send it, or do not.

Starting over

Settings, Progress, "Erase all progress" forgets every flower bed, the journal, the herbarium and the Garden, on this device and on all your devices signed in to iCloud. Deleting the game removes what is kept on the device; what is in your own iCloud stays there until you erase your progress or remove it in your iCloud settings.

Children's privacy

Turnleaf is rated 4+: there is no chat, there are no purchases, and nothing is collected from anyone, so nothing different happens when the player is a child. The one thing a player writes that anyone else can see is their garden's name, and only the friends the player invites ever see it.

This website

These pages set no cookies, run no analytics and load nothing from other sites. The page a seed packet or a cutting link opens reads the plant names in its own address to offer an "Open in Turnleaf" link, and stores and sends nothing.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this same address with a new date at the top. Questions about it are welcome: the way to write is on the support page.
